Reception staff at here at Suffolk's social enterprise centre have been learning sign language to enable them to provide a better service for visitors with hearing impairment. The training, provided by one of the centres newest tenants Enable Support Services Ltd who offer a wide range of support to and for people who have a sensory loss, is seen as an important part of the development of the centre.
Roger Turkington Director of Operations for Suffolk ACRE who own the Brightspace Enterprise Centre in Ipswich said
“The reception team jumped at the chance to learn British Sign Language and they look forward to welcoming guests to Brightspace in this way in the near future”
Jane Gedge of Enable Support Services said
“Moving my office base into Brightspace has been a great decision for me, my team and our customers. The reception staff have been so helpful and accommodating, even taking on board some signing skills in order to welcome our deaf visitors. I am looking forward to the opportunities for growth over the coming year and expect to be with Brightspace for the journey.”
Over 200 people a week currently make use of Bridgtspace’s facilities which include a fully accessible lift; hearing loop and state of the art IT systems. Enable Support Services works across Suffolk and beyond with and for adults, children and families, as well as providing training services to organisations nationally.
