Philosophy

BRIGHTSPACE philosophy is driven by its parent body, Suffolk ACRE.

Our mission is:
To be a successful social innovation agency undertaking activities that both strengthen civil society and the social enterprise sector.

The term social innovation is about deploying concepts, processes of innovation and organisational models that have a social purpose and is intended to extend and strengthen civil society. Our business model means that the organisation has and continues to be involved in a diverse range of activities and projects assisting communities and the public sector to meet their objectives.

Over the last seven decades Suffolk ACRE has been involved in a varied set of activities in support of communities and has achieved many notable things. For example it has been instrumental in the creation of a number of organisations that have extended and strengthened the Third Sector in Suffolk. Some examples are listed below:

  • First Citizens Advice Bureau in Ipswich
  • Suffolk Association of Voluntary Organisations
  • Suffolk Carers
  • Suffolk Association of Local Councils
  • Village Community Councils
  • Suffolk Local History Council
  • Museum of East Anglian Life
  • Community owned shops

At Suffolk ACRE we want to continue to facilitate the creation of such organisations and hopefully extend and strengthen the Third Sector in Suffolk even further by using our core values to create an atmosphere that can help other social enterprise organisations be successful.

BRIGHTSPACE reflects the values of Suffolk ACRE as evident in the actions below:

  • Source goods and services from local businesses
  • Provide locally sourced food
  • Purchase fair trade goods and environmentally friendly products
  • Green travel plan
  • Minimise waste and promote recycling
  • Use energy efficient heating and cooling systems
  • All offices are fully accessible
  • Shower facilities for tenants
